About our Cakes

Design

All the cakes are decorated at our shop, with most of the toppers being handmade. Therefore, you can have whatever you like (we like a challenge!). If you can’t find any inspiration for your cake design, have a look through some of the photos on this website. We’ve tried to make it as easy for you as possible, by categorising them. Or, if you scroll down to the bottom of this page, you can click on any of the blue words that you like the sound of. Once you have an idea of how many you want to feed and possibly a design, come and see us. We’ll help you design the perfect cake. We usually only need 1 weeks notice for a fairly simple cake. It’s better to give us as much notice as you can, as we only have so much manpower. Contact us for more information.

Fillings

The most popular fillings are maderia sponge (like birthday sponge but moist and vanilla flavour), usually served with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream, chocolate with chocolate buttercream, or moist fruitcake. We can make whatever flavour you like, so long as we have a few weeks notice. If you have any requests for something different just ask! I can make gluten free, dairy free, and wheat free cakes at no extra cost. If you’re having multiple tiers, why not have a mixture of fillings?

Portions

If you were to cut a 1″/2″ size peice, then here’s how many you feed out of these sizes… (celebration cakes)

6″ feeds 16

9″ feeds 36

12″ feeds 70

Fruit cake feeds double, as the slice is ussually 1″/1″. At a wedding, you also feed more because the cake is deeper. The peices are ussually a little smaller too, so if you’re giving cake as dessert, you might need more cake! Different sizes are available, so come and see me if you’d like larger or smaller sizes. I can always find the right size and budget for you.

Samples

Customers are always telling me how soft and tasty my sponge is!! If you’d like a sample, please call me before you come to the shop and I will have some ready for you (better safe than sorry!!) x

Delivery

We can deliver locally, but may need to ask for some money towards petrol costs. We cannot post cakes (it always ends in tears) and we do not sell toppers by themselves. If you would like a cake delivered it’s always worth asking, just drop us an email saying where and when and We’ll let you know how much it would be! x
