Novelty & Themed Cakes

Lesley’s Mulberry bag

This shaped Mulberry bag cake is made from a medium chocolate sponge which would feed roughly 30 people – it can be made larger or smaller and in a choice of flavours. We’ve made quite a few handbags here at the shop – always a pleasure, we love our handbags! Please bring us a photo of a handbag when you order your cake as there are loads of different types and patterns and it can really affect your quote

Jan’s Caravan Cake

Jan loves nothing more than getting away from it all in her caravan! Her work friends brought us a photo of her caravan and we made it out of vanilla sponge. This is a medium sponge which will feed 30 but there is a larger size available if you like. This caravan cake is sponge but can also be made from chocolate or fruit cake. All the things on the board are edible. It was left to me what to make on the board – so I made trees and shrubs, a little camp fire (and a pan with sausages and an egg!) and a few animals (see if you can spot the bunny, bird, squirrel, bees and ladybirds!)

Truro train (shaped cake)

Most of the time when we get asked to make trains or cars we make a flat cake and make models for the top. It’s really nice to get asked to make a shaped cake version – you can fit a lot of detail onto them (and a face if we’re asked!) but they are a lot more work! If you’d like a specific train like Lizzi – photos are appreciated, but if not we can google it. Just make a note of the name of the train for us if you can.

Vegas inpired gambling cake for Liam’s 18th!

I love a themed cake – this 2 tier (12″ and 9″) gambling cake was for Liam’s 18th birthday. It has a roulette wheel at the top, edible money dice and chips, Las Vegas sign, and cards! I like it when a customer leaves it with me and I always get carried away. This cake is available in larger or smaller sizes to suit the amount of guests

Cute shaped reptilian cakes

Both of these shaped cakes are made from a medium sponge to feed 30 but can be made larger or smaller. If you’d like a pink snake, green dinosaur, or something else like it – there are loads of different ways of doing them. Come to see us with an idea and we’ll show you all your options.

Skunk shaped cake

This Skunk cake is made from a 9″ madeira sponge, and has a polystyrene ball for a head. We have used this basic design to make teddies, hello kitty, and all kinds of animals before now – but never a skunk! Phoebe is a skunk from Lincoln and she was very pleased with her second birthday cake  - HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHOEBE!

More ideas for cupcake trays…

Cupcake trays are a really popular way to eat cake – and here are some more examples. To the left is a lovely welcome home to a soldier in Afghanistan and to the right is a vanilla and chocolate cupcake tray for a 60th birthday. Cupcake trays are a lovely way to celebrate if you don’t want to cut up a cake, or want different flavours (also a good option when there’s not much notice and we can’t make a celebration cake) get in touch if you’d like to order a cupcake tray – we can write on the board or the cupcakes!

Gory Zombie Hand

I love it when we get asked to make something look really gory!! Here is a wicked zombie hand cake – all edible!! The blood is red food dye and the dirt is chocolate cake crumbs. Let us know if you’d like something zombie themed – there’s plenty of options to chose from

Chiropodist Foot cake

Here is a disgusting looking foot cake for a chiropodist! She has a little edible book and glass of wine to go with her edible giant severed foot! What more could you want for your birthday?

Basketball boy!

For Chris’s 18th birthday his family got him a shaped basket ball shirt of his favourite team – the LA Lakers. We took the normal shirt and changed the logo to match another shirt, so he has the best of both worlds :) We also made an edible model of Chris standing against the cake, and in keeping with family tradition – 18 candles! Bring us (or email) photos so we can make the model look like the person in question. If you’d like a Lakers cake, drop us an email!
